Webdav support

Using Mayan EDMS

I search on the forum but none mentions Webdav support.

Is there a way to connect the user Word/Excel/ecc applications directly with Mayan document repository?

WebDAV has been in the radar for years. The issues blocking this feature are:

  • No mature and stable server libraries that meet our base standard. Good libraries get orphaned without notice. New good libraries start strong but lose momentum and become either stale (securities issues not fixed) or unmaintained (no progress or new features).
  • WebDAV is meant for file managers where a file has a canonical location. Mayan philosophy is contrary to file managers and we have not decided how best to map a document to a WebDAV URL in a way that is non relocatable. This is the same issue with adding permalinks to index entries that are dynamic in nature (Maybe there is a way to have permalinks for indexes? (#434) · Issues · Mayan EDMS / Mayan EDMS · GitLab)

Until these two issues are not solved (and the first does not depend on us), it is not likely that WebDAV will be supported.
