What logs to watch for "internal server error" troubleshooting?

Post by solano1 » Wed Jul 03, 2019 8:15 pm

Since we are not able to update the software from 3.1.10, I guess we can try to track down what the errors are with all of these intermittent "INTERNAL SERVER ERROR" we receive.

For direct deployments (i.e. Ubuntu 18) can anyone confirm what are the logs you are looking at?

So far I am tailing....

/var/log/syslog
/var/log/ufw.log
/var/log/redis/resdis-server.log
/var/log/supervisor/supervisord.log
/var/log/supervisor/mayan
/var/log/supervisor/mayan-gunicorn-stderr---supervisor-*.log
/var/log/supervisor/mayan-worker-medium-stderr---supervisor-*.log
/var/log/supervisor/mayan-celery-beat-stdout---supervisor-*.log

But I am not seeing anything pop up when the internal server errors occur....

Following up on my own post....

by reading a bit here:
https://gitlab.com/mayan-edms/mayan-edms/issues/350

I've figured out that some of the logs for Mayan may be able to be viewed using journalctl depending on how you've installed Mayan.

Some information on journalctl usage here:
https://www.loggly.com/ultimate-guide/using-journalctl/

Short version...

# to tail or view logs live...
journalctl -f

#to view logs from the past hour...
journalctl --since "1 hour ago"
