Feature Request for watch folders

Post by Crayiii » Fri Aug 24, 2018 12:30 am

It would be great (for me anyway) if there was the ability to connect to a webdav folder to watch for new files. Many iOS and Android scanning apps allow for scanning documents and saving them to a webdav folder.

If I understand your need properly, I believe you might find use in using a tool like Davfs2, which will allow you to mount a webdav share to your filesystem. Then you could specify the mount path as your watch folder.

see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Davfs2

We've had similar requests for specific protocols which date to a few years back (https://gitlab.com/mayan-edms/mayan-edms/issues/136). The problems with these protocols is that there are no mature and stable Python libraries available. We would have to manually implement the protocol. This, is a project in itself.

@jeremymorel suggestion is a good workaround until we are able to support WebDAV natively in the future.
